What we’re doing
Our mission is simple: to create a clear, comprehensive, and easy-to-use guide for photographers. Whether you’re buying your first DSLR, expanding your lens collection, or just curious about what gear is compatible, we want to provide the answers you need without the technical jargon.
We’re starting with a focus on Nikon and Canon, as they are two of the most popular systems for both amateur and professional photographers.
The backstory
LensList was born out of a common frustration. How many times have you wondered: “Will this lens fit my camera?” “Is this a full-frame lens or a crop-sensor lens?” “What adapter do I need?” The information is out there, but it’s scattered across forums, manufacturer websites, and review sites.
We wanted to build a single, reliable place to answer these questions quickly and easily. A resource built by photographers, for photographers.

This site is built on the idea of being a long-term, sustainable resource for the photography community. We’re using simple, fast technology to ensure the site is always available and quick to load. The data that powers this site is intended to be open and accessible, growing over time with help from users like you.
How it works
LensList is a growing database. You can browse by camera body to see a list of compatible lenses, or look up a specific lens to see which camera bodies it works with. We aim to include key details like mount type, sensor format compatibility, and other notes to help you make informed decisions.
